Free Distributed Computing Services
Which Projects are Free?
We will consider integrating and hosting distributed computing projects for free if the project meets
some or all of the criteria below.
- Projects that have high CPU/data ratios - The more time our agents spend crunching algorithms
instead of passing data back and forth keeps our storage and bandwidth costs down as well not slowing
down our member's network connections.
- 100% of project source code is available - This makes it easier for us to integrate and allows
us to make sure it will run securely and not damage any of our member's computers. The code does not
need to be open source nor do we require that you allow us to make the source public, we will just review it
internally for integration and security purposes only.
- Project code is written in Java - This provides the widest platform support, is easier to distribute
and integrate into our existing infrastructure.
- Project owners are interested and willing to be involved - Project owners that have a willingness to
participate in the member community to report back results of their computation is highly desirable.
- Projects that would be of great interest to our members - Our members want their computers to be put
to work towards worthy projects that will be beneficial to others or has really cool ramifications. We
consult with our members often to find out what kinds of projects would interest them.
- Longevity - Will your project only last 1 week or could it take several years? We'd rather have
projects that will run over a long period of time but have intermittent feedback on results as the
project progresses.
- Other factors - We will consider other factors as well that might have unknown benefits.
We are flexible to work with and eager to host cool projects.
What's the catch?
We are very anxious to run interesting and beneficial projects that will help promote Internet-scale
grid computing solutions and ensuring that Ubero is on the forefront of this exciting field while,
at the same time, helping further the research causes of ambitious and forward-thinking researchers
in need of large amounts of computational power.
Feel free to consult with us at sales@ubero.com
as to whether or not your distributed computing project would qualify as a candidate for a free project.
We can be flexible in our considerations.
